You are your Business

Some people think that marketing is done when sales are down or occupancy is low. The truth is that marketing is done 24 hours a day seven days a week. You should not take a day off from marketing your business so in essence you are your business. If you keep this in mind you will create lasting relationships and when people see you they will relate you to your business. Whether you are a real estate agent or a community manager or an owner of a small business you can create an environment where people will refer to you when they or someone they know wants to purchase a house, rent an apartment or has some other need in which your services or product may be the perfect fit. Creating relationships takes work. This means it does not happen over night but it pays off in the end. The first step is to simply talk to people. Strike up conversations when you’re out and about running errands. Talk to the man that handles your dry cleaning, the cashier at your local 711, or the butcher at your grocery store. Let people know what you do. You would be surprised who may actually need or know someone that needs what you have to offer! Make a habit of leaving your business card when you pay at a restaurant or leave a fun small logo gift such as a pen or notepad . Wear a hat or t-shirt with your logo on it when you’re off and purchase a magnet for your car. Some of these things can spark conversation with people you already know and with strangers on a day to day basis. Be proud of what you do or the service or product that you sell. You will be able to talk about it with enthusiasm and passion!
